Sadie Weinberg Improvisation Master Class

Saturday, December 16 –  12:00 – 2:00pm

Description:
Improvisation serves many purposes; a way to check in, a movement exploration, a choreographic tool and an avenue of performance. Along with my technical dance training, improvisation has been something I have always engaged in. It’s the thing I did before I ever stepped into a dance class; grooving alone in my bedroom to the Beastie Boys, License to Ill, among other classics, as a pre-teen. Improvisation is almost always an aspect of my technique classes, choreographic process, and often my dance work. In this master class for Malashock Dance, we will touch on all of these aspects of improvisation; investigation, exploration, choreographing and performing. Let’s dance!

Instructor Bio:
Sadie Weinberg graduated with a BFA in Dance from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College and an MFA from UC Irvine. She has danced professionally in San Diego with Jean Isaacs’ San Diego Dance Theater, Malashock Dance, IMAGOmoves, McCaleb Dance and many other independent choreographers. She currently teaches at UCSD, MiraCosta and Palomar Community Colleges and Coronado High School of the Arts. Sadie is currently hard at work building a Contemporary Rep Company, LITVAKdance based in the NorthWest region of San Diego County.
