Artists in Motion (Teaching Artists: Molly Puryear)
La Jolla Country Day School

High School students attending La Jolla Country Day School have the opportunity to work with a resident Malashock Dance teaching artist during their dance class offered on campus.  Students work specifically on developing their technique in modern dance and learning choreography for their Spring dance performance.  Malashock Dance enhances the quality of La Jolla Country Day School's dance education program by providing students direct access to a Malashock Dance teaching artist.  This training and exposure leaves a lasting impact on students, creating dancers and arts supporters in the process.

"La Jolla Country Day School dance program strives to expose students to a variety of dance styles and instructors. Molly Puryear's commintment to the students in the dance program over the past four years has been stellar. She aides in introducing them to the building blocks of dance through proper technique, instruction, and challenging choreography. I have watched my students flourish under her expert guidance. Their confidence as dancers and individuals has been astounding. Molly really inculcates a sense of community and trust within the various classes she works with. I have watched the fear of movemnet disappear from countless students, and seen them blossom into accomplished and confident individuals who understand their body and how it moves through space.
