TOURING PROGRAMS & MEDIA:
Shadow of Mercy
(The Leonard Cohen Project)
Malashock’s critically acclaimed production is a full-evening choreographic work that draws on the richness and depth of Leonard Cohen’s music and poetry. Cohen, a true living legend, brings an uncanny human understanding to his words and his music is almost comically appealing and painfully truthful at the same time. These qualities are a perfect match for Malashock’s dramatic and darkly humorous choreographic style.

Malashock/RAW
Selections from Malashock/RAW, a favorite with audience and critics alike, features works by John Malashock, Michael Mizerany, Bradley Michaud and Henry Torres & Angel Arambula of Lux Boreal. Malashock/RAW is a gritty, provocative, cutting-edge evening of dance. This concert features the works:
This Is Not an Exit, choreographed by Bradley Michaud, is a bold, unpredictable and high velocity dance work exploring the themes of relationships, breakups, attempted suicide, and the road to recovery after a monumental loss.

Bad Company is a high energy work that is unabashedly bold and undeniably risky. Bad Company delves into the nuances, complexities and the more than bizarre nature of the human condition – exposing raw vulnerability, physical daring and carnal need.

Man Up! is John Malashock’s way of digging around in his feminine side to explore how women perceive the state of manhood and the male psyche. This gender bending choreography about perceptions and misperceptions will be created specifically for five dynamic dancing women and promises to be personally illuminating and highly entertaining.

Piece of Work! is an edgy combination of revealing character studies and daring physical storytelling. In a series of humorous, yet disturbing, solos, duets and trios, Piece of Work! will venture into the internal push and pull of opposing psychological forces. What you see is not necessarily what you get.
Lux Boreal’s Harem explores both the communication and non-communication between people who share a common goal, and the mechanisms they apply to reach it. Shrouded in mystery, secrecy, and hidden intentions, “Harem’s” sextet will confront the fight for control and the give/take needed in order to preserve and succeed.

Desperate Love is multiple Horton Award winner Michael Mizerany’s newest dance work. Desperate Love examines the compromises we make and the regrets we live with in our quest for an ideal love (or the idea of love). Desperate Love is a stark and unapologetic look at the darker side of desire, passion and sensuality.
