Scholarships

In keeping with our mission to become a comprehensive community resource for dance training and education, we have established The Malashock Dance School Scholarship Program to ensure arts education is accessible to as many individuals and families as possible.  We encounter many students who do not have the financial resources to pursue professional level dance instruction.  The Scholarship Program enables these students to continue taking year-round weekly dance classes and workshops offered through The Malashock Dance School by awarding both need-based and merit-based scholarships.  Need-based scholarships are awarded on a financial basis through the completion of an application form, and merit-based scholarships are awarded by audition only.  For more information, call (619) 260-1622.

Through the Scholarship Program, Malashock Dance seeks to:

  • Increase access to our Dance Training and Education programs.
  • Increase the number and diversity of students who participate in Malashock Dance classes.
  • Provide intensive summer study opportunities for students from San Diego and other locations nationally and internationally.
  • Provide opportunities for aspiring professional dancers to study year-long with Malashock Dance.

Malashock Dance seeks to enhance the emotional development of aspiring dancers by empowering them through creativity and movement.   In addition to enabling students to explore and challenge their physical potential, we believe that dance and other arts programs encourage greater self-esteem, confidence, and discipline, which can carry over into many areas of academic development.  This is especially true of the multi-disciplinary approach that is representative of the Malashock Dance style, in which dance, theater, music, visual art and film all come together to play an important role.
