Moving Together (NEW) (2-3 years old)
Mondays, 9:00 am – 9:45 am
Moving together is a lively, creative dance class for dancers aged 2-3 years old and grown-ups! Dancers will get to move and groove to fun, follow-along songs while learning important gross motor skills, shapes, colors, numbers, patterns, and more! This class is perfect for children and their parents or guardians who have not yet or have just begun preschool and want a comfortable initial experience into what preschool will be like.

Creative Dance (3-5 years old)
Saturdays, 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Instructor: Maddie Campisano
Creative Dance is for students 3-5 years old. In this class, students will explore the beginning concepts of movement and dance. Dance skills including moving like animals, color matching games, hopscotch patterns, and dance obstacle courses. Dancers will also learn basic beginning technique skills including arm and feet positions, plies, tendus, sautes, and chasses. This class is incredibly fun for young creative minds!
Hip Hop I (NEW) (6-10 years old)
Tuesdays, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Instructor: Joshua Robert
An introduction to various styles of hip hop. Students will be encouraged to create and choreograph while discovering their own unique style of dance. This class will slowly educate young dancers about hip hop basics.
Contemporary I (9-10 years old)
Tuesdays, 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Instructor: Yaro Severn
Contemporary I is for children 9-10yrs old. Students begin to learn the foundations of contemporary dance and delve deeper into dance technique and terminology. The teacher will work on improving strength, balance and flexibility and will guide them through concepts such as rhythm, direction and energy. They will gain a clear understand of shifting weight and body awareness. Students will be challenged to apply what they’ve learned in the warm up to the rest of class along with remembering longer phrases of movement in across the floor and center exercises.
Contemporary II (11-14 years old)
Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Instructor: Rachel Torres
Contemporary II students will learn how to move with precision and control at a quicker pace through beginning and intermediate concepts. The students will work on completely integrating what they have learned in the warm up to the across the floor and choreography portions of class. Students will gain an understanding of control, release and sustained movements, more precision and clarity in movement, body alignment, and balance allowing them to showcase different movement and performance dynamics. Students will build a solid foundation to advance in their dance training.
Contemporary III (11-16 years old)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Instructor: Nicole Carriker
Contemporary III students will move in class with a full range of motion, understanding articulation of all joints. They will build on upper body strength as they progress through various inversions. Students will perform exercises with clarity and be able to execute them with ease. The instructor will guide this level to find smooth transitions and clear initiations. They will develop comfort moving in back space along with off-center movement. Students are expected to reach further in their capabilities and the teacher will guide them safely through this process.
Ballet for Modern Dancers (NEW) (9-16 years old)
Tuesdays, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Instructor: Sarah Emmons
Whether you want to be a ballerina or a basketball player, ballet is important for understanding dance fundamentals that you can translate to your favorite dance form. Ballet allows your child to develop strength, flexibility, and coordination in a way that is vital to every other dance form. Students will learn placement, articulation, precision, and how to use their facility at their personal best. Ballet shoes and form-fitting clothing are required.
Jazz (NEW) (11-16 years old)
Thursdays, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Instructor: Nicole Carriker
After teaching contemporary at Malashock for a few years, we are excited Nicole is now offering a Jazz class. Jazz will provide dancers a variety to their dance training, as they work on techniques such as isolations, turns, leaps, and performance/theatrical jazz, working in styles including Bob Fosse and Jack Cole. This Jazz class will help the contemporary dance student develop and become a stronger, more diverse dancer. Jazz shoes and form-fitting clothing are required.

*Minimum 6 for enrollment in all classes. Waiting lists will form until enrollment goal is met, or class levels may be combined if ages of students are compatible.
